Abstract
It is the goal of this paper to present Latinisms (words and phrases) in actual use in the Spanish Constitutional Court (CT) and Supreme Court (SC) rulings from 1987 to 1993. Starting from a randomly selected corpus of a 100 CT and 400 SC rulings, the structure of these Latinisms is analyzed, their lexicographical definitions are provided, their literal and basic legal senses and their contexts are explained, and their present interest and usefulness for concision, precision, univocity, universality and characterization of legal terminology are established.
